The
South Tacoma Pump Station located along Water Flume Line Trail provides a
possible canvas for 4 paintings to be created by a local artist. There are 4 recessed panels that were
originally stained glass windows created by a WPA artist. Drawing on the New Deal history of the
building, I could envision a layering of aquatic themes celebrating
infrastructure, environmental stewardship and water as a source of life. A blue palette would tie-in to other proposed
artwork along the trail and within the park.
